Tony Dye makes his move
True freshman Tony Dye was the first commit out of what is turning out to be a very talented recruiting class of 2008. Just prior to "Sudden Saturday", Dye gave his commitment to UCLA to get the ball rolling and now he is already paying dividends for the program.
Dye saw his first action as a special teams player and then last week, he moved into the nickel package where he accounted for five tackles.
BruinBlitz.com caught up with after Tuesday's practice to get his feeling on his role with the tea,
BruinBlitz.com: Tony a year ago you were suiting up and playing for Corona (Calif.) Santiago and now you playing and contributing getting a lot of snaps for UCLA. How does that make you feel?
Dye: "I feel great. I feel as expected. In planned on coming in and contributing at least a little bit and that's what I'm doing. I want to do anything to help the team and it feels good. It feels real good to be out there and knowing what I'm doing."
BruinBlitz.com: When you earned the nickel job, what was your mindset?
Dye: "To be honest with you, it was one of those things where I was going to have to sit v=back and let the older guys take their reps and bide my time. I was just going to make sure to know my assignments so when my chance came I would be ready. So when my chance came, I did all my stuff right so it was more of a, as expected attitude, because I planned to do my stuff right, I did it and I was rewarded by Coach DeWayne Walker, at least for one game."
