Are Vols Hanging On With Schofield?
New Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin has made a splash on the recruiting trail since his arrival by snagging three verbal commitments in the last two weeks. However, keeping already-committed prospects, such as offensive lineman JerQuari Schofield, in the fold has been an equally important task.
Schofield (6-foot-6, 298 pounds), from Aiken, S.C. committed to the Vols over the summer after his performance in camp earned him a scholarship offer.
The potential the Vol staff saw back then was on display for wider audience last week when Schofield turned heads during Shrine Bowl practice between the North Carolina and South Carolina All-Star teams.
He was called one of the biggest surprises of the week by some, even though the projected college offensive lineman spent most of the week at defensive tackle.
