In truth, nobody involved in Robert Sands' recruitment--including the true freshman free safety himself--was sure about the 6-foot-6, 205 pounder's placement.

"He visited Florida. Urban (Meyer) liked him a lot. We just weren't sure where we were going to put him," said Doc Holliday, the man who recruited Sands twice.

"The Sands youngster has come along faster than I ever thought. When I saw him on film, I wasn't sure he would be able to contribute this fast," said WVU head coach Bill Stewart.
