Gano, Carr-led seniors ride off in style
Demonstrating the precision of a PGA Tour pro with a wedge in his hand, Graham Gano set the tone for Florida State's rousing, senior-led finale, a 42-13 Champs Sports Bowl pummeling of Wisconsin.
Pinning the Badgers' offense inside their 3-yard line with each of his first three punts, Gano bought the Seminoles' defense field position against the smash-mouth Big Ten foe. It bought FSU's laboring offense time to find some rhythm.
"This guy right here (Gano) held us in there in the first half," FSU coach Bobby Bowden said, pointing to his senior punter/kicker in the post-game press conference. "I don't know what we would have done tonight if he hadn't penned them up time and time again.
He was so valuable."
