Lewis Still has Plenty to Prove
The headline is obvious, 'small town boy makes good'. It's a story as old as storytelling itself but in the case of Ronnell Lewis it's about to come true. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker has already had his first taste of the spotlight starring recently in the Under Armour All-American game in an event that saw not only the game televised but also a couple of practices and a skills challenge.
Now Lewis is about to fulfill a lifelong dream and enroll at Oklahoma officially becoming part of the football team he has always followed. A dream that most probably thought was an impossible one not long ago.
"I been packing all week man," Lewis said. "I'm excited actually, getting up there and getting into spring practice. I'm just ready, you know just coming out there and working hard trying to set a good tone for the coaches and players."
Upon his arrival in Norman the skilled defender will be unpacking next to his future roommate, Tom Wort. The two had a chance to share a room together in Orlando and wasted no time becoming close friends.
"Tom is a great guy, we hung out down there and roomed together. He is a good guy and a great athlete," he said. "He is a good kid and personality wise he isn't hot-headed. He is like me, level-headed."
