Lavey gets latest offer in person
Normally, being interrupted in the middle of a college basketball game is something one finds irritating. For Celina (Texas) junior linebacker Caleb Lavey, the circumstances surrounding it were exciting.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Lavey was like all of the other prospects at Texas A&M's junior day last Saturday afternoon, taking in the Aggies' game with Oklahoma. However, he then got a request from his area recruiter Kirk Doll to leave the game and come back with him over to head Mike Sherman's office.
"Coach Sherman told me earlier that he was real impressed with me," said Lavey. "Coach Doll asked if coach Sherman could meet me at halftime. We drove back over to the field house with my mom and coach Sherman said, 'You have an offer to play football here. We want you here.'"
The offer is the fourth that Lavey has received so far this year as he has already received ones from TCU, Arkansas and Texas Tech. However, this is the only one that the defender has received in person from a college head coach and it was part of what he termed a "good experience."
