Smith making transition from TE to OL
Vance Smith has a plan. And so far he's sticking to it.
Auburn's true sophomore moved from tight end to offensive tackle this spring and has been steadily gaining weight and learning his new position.
After reporting to AU last fall at approximately 245 pounds, Smith is already up to 262. He knows he'll need to be bigger to compete in the SEC.
"I'm taking it slow, doing two pounds a week," Smith said. "By fall camp, I should be about 290, 295."
Smith said he made the decision to switch to the offensive line after a meeting with AU offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.
