Junior Watts Dantzler of Dalton High said he just wants to enjoy his junior year before he gets too wrapped up in what college he wants to eventually attend.
But that doesn't mean interested programs aren't trying to get an early foot in the door.
As reported recently by UGASports, the 6-foot-7, 280-pounder who will be one of the state's top linemen from the class of 2011, already has four offers from Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and North Carolina State. However, Dantzler said he's definitely going to be taking his time before making any sort of decision.
"It's wide open. I'm just taking it day by day," Dantzler said. "I'm not worried yet about college. I'm just looking forward to improving and going against better high school athletes. I'll start to think more about college next year."
That doesn't mean that Dantzler won't be making the rounds this summer to a handful of camps where he said he'll hopefully be able to improve his game.
According to Dantzler, he'll be attending camps at Georgia, Duke and Auburn, and possibly more before Dalton begins preseason practice in August.
"There's still a lot I've got to work on," Dantzler said. "I need to work on my hips, work on my feet and get where I don't get beat so much on the inside pass rush. There's a lot of stuff I need to work on every day."
But Dantzler believes that he is getting better. He gives current Bulldog commitment Jalen Fields credit for that.
"Jalen's huge, he's strong and fast," Dantzler said. "It's a battle just to get off the play."
He said his confidence is definitely growing.
"I definitely think now that I've got the confidence where if I have a defensive end and get locked inside I can take him," Dantzler said. "Last year I was unsure I could do that."
