Day One full of Offensive Linemen
NORMAN, Okla. - They say you have to start somewhere and at first glance that may be the impression most got from Oklahoma's initial workout of it's 2009 summer campers but there were several impressive prospects, particularly younger players, on Tuesday who made themselves known.
There is nowhere else to start among the group of prospects than a group of offensive linemen that were clearly the best group on the practice fields Southeast of Owen field.
The most well known name may have been Springdale (Ark.) Shiloh Christian 2011 offensive tackle Travis Bodenstein. The 6-foot-5, 295-pound blocker looked the part and did well going through drills under the attentive eye of Sooner offensive line coach James Patton. Bodenstein is still developing his technique but physically is well beyond many linemen in his age group.
One player that may be a bit shorter but is a quality lineman in his own right is Sallisaw, Okla. junior-to-be Garrett Gladd. The 6-foot-2, 275-pound prospect looks to be a guard in the future and figures to be one of the top prospects in Oklahoma for the class of 2010.
While both Bodenstein and Gladd were well known names there were another pair of blockers who helped to get their name into the public eye a bit more with their performances on Tuesday.
