Powell shines on both sides of the ball
While Joe Powell shares a Dallas Skyline roster with some of the nation's best players his recent chance to take in a NIKE event in Eugene, Oregon in which many schools traveled to Oregon's campus to take part in a 7-on-7 event only furthered his confidence to compete with most.
The 5-foot-11, 174-pound prospect had taken part in the TCU NIKE camp as well as several other events but says the chance to face some of Florida's best was something he really enjoyed about his time in Oregon. However, he admits the trip was something less than a success due to his team's shortcomings.
Powell feels the event was a good showing for him but could have been better if he'd have been allowed to play 'his game'.
"I liked it, I fit in with the Pahokee dudes, those Miami Northwestern dudes, they were cool but our coach didn't let me play our game, talk trash that kind of stuff. I kind of play my best when I can get out there and get into the heads of other dudes," Powell said.
