Wegher going with the flow
If you ask Brandon Wegher about his expectations for his freshman year, he will tell you he is just going with the flow. If the coaches want him to return kicks, he will do that, and if they want him to carry the ball, he will do that too. The Sioux City native talks about the upcoming season, working out with Coach Doyle all summer, the freshman class, and much more.
Q: Were the workouts a lot different this summer?
WEGHER: Yeah, a lot more technical stuff, a lot more detailed. It was just great being here with the team.
Q: Do you have expectations for yourself this year as a freshman?
WEGHER: Not really. I'm just kind of going with the flow right now.
Q: A lot of the freshmen were down here this summer working out. How did that help the class adjust to college football and college life in general?
WEGHER: Oh, it was really good. We had a lot of the freshmen down here. We all worked pretty hard. Getting down here without any other college students down here and just getting to know the campus was one of the big things that really helped us out.
Q: Can you talk about dealing with Coach Doyle and the intensity that he brings to a workout?
WEGHER: He's an intense coach and he knows what he's doing. He gets us ready.
Q: Now you're coming in as a running back and they've got Jewel and Jeff, but Shonn Greene left. Do you feel like if you don't play right off the bat, you'll still be learning from some good guys as well?
WEGHER: Oh yeah, definitely. That's what I'm trying to do right now is learn from them. They know what they're doing and we've really got some great running backs.
