Junior RB stresses team goals
Ask Mario Fannin about individual goals or if this year will be his proverbial breakout season and you'll get a shrug of the shoulders and a, "If it happens, it happens; if it doesn't, it doesn't."
But ask him about this year's offense and the team as a whole, and his eyes will start to light up.
"I have a lot of expectations - mainly just to be the No. 1 offense in the country," Fannin said. "We have that capability, we have the athletes in order to do it. We're smart enough, we're fast enough, we're strong enough.
"It's just more, right now, being mentally tough and that's something the coaches are harping on us for right now - just being mentally tough and being able to go up and down the field at the pace we need to be in order to be successful. Right now we're not there, but we're going to get there before Sept. 5."
Fannin said his high expectations for the offense and the 2009 season go back to a grueling summer workout program that many veterans called the toughest of their careers.
