Herring back, hopes to help at LB
Adam Herring has watched and waited.
And waited and waited.
Finally, after being out with a foot injury for nearly a year, the Auburn linebacker returned to practice this week.
It was welcome relief for Herring and a linebacker corps that's struggled through a preseason with injuries and a lack of depth.
"It's really exciting. It's a big relief," Herring said. "It's so tough to sit out there and watch everybody have fun and do things that you want to be doing on a day-to-day basis."
It didn't take Herring long to shake the rust off, either. His first couple of practices at Will (weakside) linebacker surprised both his coaches and teammates.
"I thought when he came back he was going to be out of shape," junior linebacker Craig Stevens said. "He's not too out of shape. He's been running around out there, making plays. He knows all the calls and stuff."
