La Tech practice #8 notes
As reported first by BleedTechBlue.com, Steven Ensminger spent Sunday's practice as the starting quarterback for his Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.
All week, we here at BleedTechBlue.com have been reporting that Steven seemed to be the odds on favorite to win the starting job. He did just that during a meeting with head coach Sonny Dykes and offensive coordinator Tony Franklin on Sunday.
The play of the offense seems to be becoming more and more consistent.
In the first passing drill, the first string, or one's, were Ensminger at quarterback, Ray Holley at running back and Tim Molton, Cruz Williams, Taulib Ikharo, and Ahmad Paige as the wide receivers.
David Gru caught the eye of the coaches Sunday as did Ikharo as wide receivers.
Ryan Allen had a particularly good day punting, while Cade Glasgow was wildly inconsistent similar to last season.
Matt Nelson continues to recover from a calf injury and is really starting to feel better. His kickoffs, at what is not quite full power yet, were landing at about the five yard line consistently.
One significant note, since Lon Roberts left practice this week with full body cramps he has yet to return. I heard some murmuring that he could be done. Roberts was admitted into the hospital following his cramps the next day. Once released it is thought he went home to Kilgore, Tx. Stay tuned to BleedTechBlue.com as this story progresses.
