Day 16 Rewind: Linebackers
While the sun ducked in and out from behind clouds all morning, Coach Riley didn't duck the question: Who is your starting runningback? Riley came out and announced that Storm Woods is the #1 RB heading into week one. Malcolm Agnew will share carries, but is a clear #2 and Jordan Jenkins will serve as a 3rd down back with Woods.
OSU welcomes a new face to the team, #39 Tym Pearson (pronounced Tim) is a junior who hasn't played football for three seasons according to OSU SID's. Pearson is undergoing his three day acclimatization period and will be available this season if need be. He has two years to play two.
Trevor Romaine was back in pads and went 2-3 on field goals, missing from 37 and making from 32 and 44. He has yet to find the consistency that Coach Riley wants from his place kicker. On the other hand, Romaine has possibly the strongest leg any kicker has had since Jose Cortez.
After individual drills the team got together for middle drill, focusing on run offense/defense. Storm Woods made a few nice runs getting to the second level, one play he dipped inside, gave a head fake and got DJ Welch to commit to the B gap, only to bounce off his tackle's back side and get around the edge untouched.
