Regardless of position, Dawson is ready
Perhaps one of the most interesting, and exciting, developments of Texas Tech's spring football practices was how effortlessly senior Keyunta Dawson made the transition from defensive end to linebacker.
Now Red Raider fans are hoping that he can make the adjustment back to the defensive line just as easily.
"I moved back [to defensive end], but I get to play a little linebacker so it's really cool," explained Dawson. "I took one for the team I guess.
"I really don't know how [defensive coordinator Lyle Setencich]'s going to use me but he says he has some stuff set up for me. I'm just ready to go. Wherever I'm at on the field, I'm ready to go."
Dawson's move back to the trenches was precipitated by the academic troubles of McKinner Dixon and Rashad Hunt, both of whom are no longer with the program. Faced with dangerously thin depth at defensive end, Dawson was asked to make the switch about a week ago.
