Evaluating the Defense
Nelson Adams was back in Starkville last weekend. This time the 6-foot-4 and 255-pound defensive lineman/tight end got the opportunity to study the MSU defensive front in the Bulldogs' spring game.Having been on campus numerous times over the past two years, Brandon junior
"I thought the defense looked pretty good," said Adams, who had 55 tackles and 14 sacks last year. "I got to watch their defensive linemen a good bit, too. They have some big guys up there but they can also move pretty well. They didn't run many defensive sets but the first-team defense still got after the offense pretty good."
Adams, who owns a verbal offer from MSU, also got the chance to visit with the MSU coaches and remarked on the 36,000 fans at Davis Wade Stadium.
"I thought the whole day was good," said Adams. "I enjoyed the game atmosphere and the crowd. I also liked talking to their coaches again. They are mainly still talking about defensive end as far as my position. They said they really want me back at camp so they can see me in person again.
"I always feel comfortable up there and I always feel at home. I know their campus pretty well by now, too."
Adams also has other summer plans in mind as well as a possible trip to Ole Miss this weekend.
"I might go to Ole Miss' spring game on Saturday," said Adams. "But that may be it until this summer. I know I am going to go to Mississippi State's camp and probably go to camps at Ole Miss and Alabama."
And with the Rebels, Adams said their program is starting to show more interest here lately yet he still maintains his long-time leader.
"Ole Miss is starting to show a bit more interest now," said Adams. "But Mississippi State is still my leader and I just feel at home with their coaches."
