June 20, 2011During the spring period, Memphis East High School's Will Redmond collected his share of BCS offers. This summer, Redmond is taking a tour to see some of those schools that extended scholarship offers.
"I have been to Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and North Carolina and some other places," said the 6-foot and 180-pound defensive back/receiver prospect. "I am also going to Clemson, Miami and Notre Dame camps, too. I was also invited back for the Big Dawg camp at Mississippi State. Their coaches said I did well at their camp and that I didn't have to perform at camp again. But I told them I still expect to make that camp and come back."
During his stay at Tennessee, Redmond left with his latest offer. Along with Tennessee, Redmond also holds offers from MSU, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, Purdue, Clemson and Virginia among others.
"It felt I did well at Tennessee," said Redmond. "That is except for running the forty and I didn't have a good time in the forty because I hurt my groin. But the coaches seemed interested in me and then after camp they offered me."
And of his camp stops, Redmond noted a few camps that caught his attention.
"It was good to go to these camps and most schools are recruiting me as a defensive back," said Redmond. "And defensive back is where I want to play. A lot of camps stuck out to me like the Ole Miss camp but the camps that really stuck out to me were Mississippi State, Tennessee and North Carolina."
Turning his attention to favorite teams in his recruitment, Redmond mentioned some of those same schools. He also added his college decision could be known in the not-so-distant future.
"With the Tennessee offer, it definitely puts them up there with Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, North Carolina and Notre Dame," said Redmond. "After all these camps, I am going to really narrow it down. I am just looking at the people around these schools and see if I get the feeling of being at home when I am around their players and coaches. I want to decide in late July or early August so I am not focused on all of this in my senior year."
