Rewind: Miles' Thursday press conference
LSU coach Les Miles addressed the media for about 15 minutes following practice Thursday evening. Here are some of his comments.
"We saved one of our helmets practices (shorts and no pads) for today. The NCAA says that we must have three helmets days. Today was a day for us to freshen up and tune things up. Our preparation for the spring game is complete. Our work (for spring) is done. The spring game allows the guys to play. There is some show to (spring game)."
(on where the offense stands)
"(Offensive coordinator) Cam (Cameron) has really introduced a lot of the offense - a lot of the things we are going to use. It is not tied down yet. But, we have seven-on-seven drills in the summer and 29 practices before the first game. We will not show very much Saturday. We will do our standard things. We seldom show new wrinkles (in spring games). I don't know if the fans will or won't see a difference in our offense. Our offense has progressed and has improved. We have operated with a lot of youth. A lot of guys have gotten snaps this spring."
(on development of two freshman quarterbacks)
"Both (Anthony) Jennings and (Hayden) Rettig are really ahead of their calendar as for where they should be. Jennings has progressed very nicely. Rettig can throw it. He comes from a different offense where they threw it every down. He has to learn how to hand off. There is more work for him to do in college."
