Saturday scrimmage report
Both Zach Mettenberger and Anthony Jennings threw two touchdown passes in LSU's second scrimmage of preseason practice Saturday.
According to coach Les Miles, Mettenberger was "roughly 18-of-25." Jennings did throw an interception, which was made by linebacker Deion Jones. Both Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry caught two touchdown passes.
For most of the scrimmage, the No. 1 units went against the No. 2 and No. 3 units. There were a few series in which the No. 1 offense was matched against the No. 1 defense. Miles said that the offense ran for 200 yards and passed for 250 yards.
"We were sloppy at times, but we were excellent at times," Miles said. "We used a variety of throws. We are going to attack the defense in a number of ways. A mechanics issue has led to some deep-ball accuracy problems for Mettenberger. He improved and hit a couple today."
Miles spoke highly of Terrence Magee, who was the leading rusher in the scrimmage. According to Miles, Magee also caught a couple of passes. Miles said that Jeremy Hill had a "couple of really good plays, but not spectacular." Hill did take some snaps with the No. 1 offense.
Colby Delahoussaye was 4-of-4 on his field goal attempts. Miles praised defense ends Danielle Hunter and Jordan Allen for their performances in the scrimmage. Defensive end Jermauria Rasco sat out the scrimmage, while wide receiver Travin Dural was limited. Miles had no update on guard Josh Williford.
