August 28, 2013Cornerback Rashard Robinson finally has been certified by the NCAA Clearinghouse, so he can begin classes at LSU.
Speaking at his post-practice press conference Wednesday evening, Tigers coach Les Miles discussed Robinson's status with the team.
"Rashard Robinson is well behind," Miles said. "He has to get his feet on the ground academically first. He has to find out where he lives. He has to know where the library is and where the academic support is.
"There will be some nice orientation time in the morning and then practice in the afternoon. It is too early to tell if we will redshirt him."
Here are some other comments from Miles at his press conference.
General overview: "Today was our last work day. Our game plan is being practiced. We are in position to play. We will fine tune things Thursday and we are looking forward going to Dallas Friday."
Zach Mettenberger: "Zach has a good sense of what he is expected to do. You can tell by the smile that is on his face and by the fact that he is busting it well. He understands the TCU defense very well."
Preparing for TCU's two quarterbacks: The two (Casey Pachall and Trevone Boykin) are similar quarterbacks. We expect both to have the ability to throw and the ability to run."
Getting kickers ready for game conditions: "I put pressure on the kickers every day in practice. I am standing right there beside them. They handle that well."
LSU DT Anthony "Freak" Johnson talks leadership and TCU
Makeup of special teams: "We will be a little more veteran on special teams this year. We had all those guys on there as freshmen last year and now they are sophomores. They are taking spots so there aren't that many for freshmen this year."
Offensive line coach Greg Studrawa being back on the sidelines during games: "Stud will be able to speak technique more appropriately. He should be able to get things squared away quicker."
Offensive line depth: "If we lose a guy, a shuffling of players will be in order. Ethan (Pocic) can line up at a number of spots. Vadal Alexander can move back out to tackle."
Playing at AT&T Stadium: "There is a lot of electricity in that environment. You have that big jumbotron. In the second series of the Cotton Bowl, I looked up at it to see what was happening. It was so distorted, I couldn't see it. There is no reason to look up there. You need to look at the field."
