Watching what players eat
Thanksgiving is a day where people eat as much as they can while offering thanks for the many good things in their life.
The LSU football players are unable to go home for Thanksgiving since they host Arkansas in the regular-season finale one day later. Tigers coach Les Miles understands all about heavy eating. Therefore, he has a strict plan for his team.
"I am certain some guys can put on five pounds with a Thanksgiving meal," said Miles at his post-practice press conference Wednesday evening. "That's not our focus. That's why we're keeping them together.
"We'll have a walk-through and turkey (Thursday). The team will eat at 1 p.m. There will be turkey and ham and some sweet potato pie."
LSU has had one less day of preparation this week since its game against the Razorbacks is set for Friday. The Tigers doubled up on their practice plans Monday and Tuesday.
"There is good news and bad news," Miles said. "The good news is there is not much practice. It's more about playing. The bad news is you can't put in a lot of new things in a short week."
Miles indicated that the team came out of the Texas A&M game with "very few bumps." There was initially some concern about wide receiver Odell Beckham's back. Miles said that Beckham practiced Tuesday and Wednesday.
"A short week (of practice) has concluded," Miles said. "Winning this game counts nine (LSU's ninth win of the season). You always remember the last one you play in the regular season. The review of the year goes as far as the last game."
