North Carolina's football recruiting class has grown to 20 with Warren (Ohio) Johnn F. Kennedy running back Anthony Elzy making a verbal commitment the Tar Heels, according to The Tribune Chronicle newspaper in Warren.

The 5-foot-10, 205 pound prospect picked North Carolina over a host of suitors including Syracuse, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh. A trip to Chapel Hill clinched things.

"In all honesty, even as I was heading down to North Carolina, I didn't expect anything to come out of the visit," Elzy was quoted as saying in The Tribune Chronicle. "It's hard to say no to a Notre Dame or Syracuse, but as soon as I arrived at Chapel Hill, I fell in love with the place. Once I met with some of the staff, I knew I wanted become a Tar Heel."

Elzy was ranked the No. 29 player in the Ohio Top 50. He was all-conference, all-county and all-state as a junior. He rushed for 2,400 yards on 242 carries for an average of 10 yards a carry. He had 30 rushing touchdowns last season.

TarHeelIllustrated.com will have more on this newest Tar Heel later today.
