January 24, 2006Lake Butler Union county running back C.J. Spiller tops the Rivals.com 2006 Florida postseason top 100.
An explosive runner who is just as lethal going to the outside as he is running between the tackles, Spiller, the No. 8 prospect in the Rivals100, displayed outstanding speed and quickness during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
Giant offensive tackle Sam Young of Fort Lauderdale Saint Thomas Aquinas checks in at No. 2. Young had a big senior season and showed that he was more athletic than what was once thought during workouts in San Antonio.
The No. 3 prospect is Saint Augustine Nease quarterback Tim Tebow. The future Florida Gator led his team to a state championship and is one of the top all-around athletes in the country.
Offensive tackle Daron Rose of Tampa Middleton was outstanding during CaliFlorida Bowl workouts in late December. The 6-foot-5, 300-plus pounder with great feet is the state's No. 4 overall prospect. He is down to Florida State, Michigan, South Carolina and Florida.
Tampa Hillsborough athlete Jarred Fayson checks in at No. 5. An injury kept Fayson from participating in CaliFlorida Bowl or U.S. Army All-American Bowl workouts. Still, his elite speed makes him one of the top prospects in the state.
Two of the biggest risers hail from Fort Lauderdale Saint Thomas Aquinas. Defensive end Geno Atkins had an outstanding senior season and climbed to a four star rating. He checks in at the No. 36 in the final rankings. Atkins will decide between Georgia, Auburn and Michigan State this week.
His teammate, Marcus Lind, also moves in to the top 100 for the first time at No. 82. Duke held off nearly a dozen potential suitors for the 6-foot-4, 275-pounder and will be getting an ACC-quality lineman who can contribute for multiple seasons.
