November 30, 2006USC and UCLA might not be the most compelling game of the week, but all eyes will be on Los Angeles on Saturday.
The crosstown rivalry appears to be a mismatch between the No. 2 Trojans (11-1) and the unranked Bruins (6-5), but an upset could open the door for another team to enter the national title hunt.
Elsewhere, conference races are being decided starting on Thursday with the MAC title game between Central Michigan and Ohio. On Friday, Southern Miss and Houston will face off for the Conference USA title.
But the most intriguing conference championship games will come on Saturday. Florida's top five rushing offense will take on Heisman contender Darren McFadden and the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Gators need a convincing win to keep alive their slim national title hopes.
In the Big 12, Oklahoma is making an unexpected appearance in the title game after Texas' loss to Texas A&M. In the process, the Sooners will face a familiar opponent from the Barry Switzer days - the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
