Manuel, a 6-foot-5, 201-pounder, is one of the nation's top signal-callers for 2008. The big quarterback checks in at No. 18 in the nation and currently lists Alabama, Boston College, FSU, LSU, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Oregon, Penn State, Rutgers and Tennessee as his leaders.
The second five-star from Virginia is Christchurch (Va.) Christchurch School wide receiver Deion Walker. Walker, a 6-foot-4, 186-pounder, also has a lengthy list although Southern Cal currently leads the way. Fellow wide receivers Kerry Boykins and D.J. Coles also dot the top 10 at No. 5 and No. 7 respectively.
Manuel is joined by Centreville (Va.) Westfield quarterback Mike Glennon in the top 10. Glennon, the younger brother of Virginia Tech quarterback Sean Glennon, lists the Hokies, Virginia, Duke, FSU, Maryland, Miami, Michigan and Rutgers as his leader. He ranks sixth in the state.
In addition to Manuel and Walker, two other players rank amongst the nation's top 100. Manassas (Va.) Stonewall Jackson running back Ryan Williams and Maury, Va. offensive lineman Vinston Painter are both standout players with plenty of offers. Williams, ranked No. 3 in the state, lists Clemson, UConn, Florida, Maryland, Notre Dame, Pitt, Tennessee, Virginia and Virginia Tech as his leaders. Painter, ranked No. 4, favors the Hokies and Florida Gators early.
The Hokies are dominating the state right now with five commitments while West Virginia has one and the Cavaliers of Virginia are still looking for their first. However, none of the top 15 prospects in state have committed yet so it's still a wide open race.
