I just excepted that you got a steal when your QB transferred from Ga.  Man that guy is not very good.  Who backs him up?  There has to be someone better than that on the bench?

Yeah but that QB for Auburn has to be one of the worst in the entire country. That guy absolutey sucks!!

Bro, I know that you mustn't be an LSU fan so I will try to keep this short and as accurate as my long winded arse possibly can (he he)....

We LSU fans have been witnessing some of the most heart jerkin' QB play in the annals of CFB history.  For you to understand our mentality concerning Mett (our starter), you must consider what kind of seasons our recent LSU QBs have had, both good , great and down right bad.

In 2007, we  had the prototypical fifth year senior who made all of the right calls and had a will and a pair of legs that won us an NC.   Since then we've undergone a rather odd transformation as a fan base when it comes to appreciating QB play.  We take absolutely nothing for granted and appreciate every little thing done well no matter how commonplace.   We used to appreciate when our QB would hit a receiver who had everyone beat down the sidelines by ten yards but was forced to stop to catch the under thrown ball and thus get tackled for no extra gain.  We used to just be happy that our QB would see the open wide out at all instead of throwing it out of bounds for the intentional grounding or the sack for a wondrous loss of 15 yds.

It wasn't always that way though, for a while there we had the Elite 11 quick draw champ who was unfortunately thrown into an SEC grinder as a redshirt  fresh with absolutely no game snaps due to a uber-skilled screw up junior QB who was dismissed a month or so before the season started..  We were expected to contend for a second crystal ball in a row if that QB could have kept his shite together.  Instead, our youngster gunslinger threw quite a few too many picks of which nearly one was returned for 6 almost every game.  That year was the worst of Les' career in Baton Rouge.

Enter the highly impressive La QB prospect as a true fresh midway thru the same season.  He witnessed Lee's interceptions and developed some sort of mental issue with putting a football anywhere near an opponent's DB.  Whether it was due to the staff drilling "no turnovers" into his noggin or whether he just didn't want to go down like Lee did with a flurry of pick 6's, Jefferson wasn't going to throw an int period.   Les set up a bunch of option plays and QB run plays for him and yet he ran like the second coming of Brett Favre.  Or was it Dan Marino?  The kid had Near Cam Newton like ability (no quite of coarse) but when third down and five came up and they ran a QB run play.... there goes JJ sliding two yards short and not a speck of dirt on that jersey?  Confused?  So were we. He explained it best in a presser when he described himself as a pocket passer QB.  The play calling consisted of roughly 25%option or designed QB runs, 45% RB ground and pound and 30% of the most aggravating passing attempts that I could bear.

Now don't get me wrong here, I refuse to simply rag on an LSU FB player.  I did not place the blame for our aggravations on a couple of highly talented fresh QBs who were thrown into one of the most complex offenses without a QB coach who could neither teach down to their level from his high horse or call plays that just might have possibly utilized each of their strengths.  This is why I must point out that LSU did not even have a QB coach at that time.  Also, the Tiger's offensive coordinator was nicknamed "The Wizard" and obviously talked at a PHD level to a couple of freshmen QBs who were expected to be able to do anything in the book and set up any formation instantly with everyone on that same page while all 11 players performed flawlessly.  "The Wizard" did fine with a five year senior QB running his system but he didn't fare so well with two freshmen.  That was a damn shame because I personally believe that a proper QB coach could have gotten both of those guys drafted on the second day.

So now the story takes me to last year.  Les saw JJ as his best chance of winning.  I won't get into all of that but fate would throw J Lee into the starters job once again and he ran with it beautifully.  You see, the Tiger's defense was so stacked with SEC starter level ability at every single position.  For instance,  the DL rotated two deep at the tackles and mostly three deep at the DEs which  literally wound up wearing down every single opponent's OL before the third qtr ended.  Yes, take a look at the first Bama game on Nov 5th of that year and you will see this was true in their back yard as well.

When a team has a defense like that it doesn't need much from the offense to win games.  LSU's defense even scored enough points themselves to win most of the games that they played last year.  The biggest ace in the hole was a stable of running backs who were pounding defenses like nobody else that I can remember.  I give Bama all the credit in the world for their 2011 team but they did their thing a little differently.  LSU pounded you with a converted DT as a 275lb FB with an attitude who impressively cleared the way for the likes of the probable first rounder S Ware,  definite first rounder 240lb K Hilliard (Dalton's Nephew), this year's starter A Blue, a speedster named Gore and the 2011 rushing leader and best option back named Ford who has one heck of a future in the NFL IMO.

So now that you see what LSU was playing with you can understand why Lee was looking so darned great and LSU had some super sweet hype until the first Bama game.  I have to give that Bama team a heck of a lot of credit.  That game in Tusc was damn hard fought even though they did lose but don;t just fall for the BS about missing FGs.  LSU;s D held Bama to some very long attempts and attacked that kicker very impressively.  No No No bro, don't fall for that old line about LSU getting lucky with Bama missing FGs.  Bama lost a hard fought game and then came back and out coached and out played us in the Super Dome.

So now you must consider that Lee totally lost his playing privilages for the entire year after he threw his second int that day against Bama.  It was JJ all the way from then on.  Now LSU fans see the world through some very dark POurp and Gold glasses because even a blind buffoon could have seen that Bama was going to beat up to a pulp if something didn't get changed in a huge way for the NC game in N.O.  But NOOOO, we were the mighty LSU and nobody could stand against our superior DL rotation or our stable of NFL RBs behind our bionic FB!

Well, I think that I will skip ahead to this year now.   Like I said, I am long winded.   After reading this post to this point you must surely see why we Tiger fans are giddy to have a QB who can not only hit a guy in stride but can check down to his second or third receiver.  Heck, he even calls audibles!!  I honestly thought I had fried that brain cell in a bourbon stupor at the Arky game last year but sure enough, it just felt right seeing him change things up and gaining yards that would have normally been a loss last year.

Yeah bud, you can rag our guy for choking up a few at the goal line and you can laugh at some of his other mistakes but you won't convince up that we can't beat anyone in this great nation with him at the helm cuz we did it last year with a QB who wasn't half the player that he is.

As for his back-up... yeah, we've got a pretty darned good one with one heck of a pedigree.  I don't know whatg team you follow but I'll put our back-up up against your's any ole day.
