Up until this point, Bammer had been dodging quality opponents (non-conference vs. Western Kent and Florida Atlantic) and/or catching people (Arkansas) at the right time.

My hats off to Les. He made a bunch of ballsy decisions in trying to put his team in position to win. He learned from the championship game that he was going to have to pull something out of his hat to beat Uat. Your players fed off of Les and raised their level of play.

Saban knew the better team did not come out on top tonight.

I guess when we scheduled Michigan in the pre-season when they were a top ten team we were dodging opponents. You should go talk s.hit about Kentucky or something

At the end of the season bammer will have played one ranked team...possibly 2 if A&M hangs on..and next year lo and behold they avoid Ga.,Fla and So. Car. again. Can you say picture of Mike Slive and a goat?

Back here in reality, decent chance that Michigan, MSU, LSU and A&M are ranked not to mention UGA in the SEC CG.

The better team did win.LSU dominated Bama for 40 out of 60 minutes saturday night. Thing is Bamas 20 was better than LSU 40. I really don't think anything can be taken away from either team. It is an all time classic game. In the foreseeable future Bama and LSU will be having classic battles every year for championships. We truly are 1A and 1B.  And i don't know about Tiger fans but us Bama fans hate it when bottom feeders like Auburn fans try to leach off our glory.

AuburnLegacy:

First, off good comments about Les. Yes he does some thinks that at times are risky, but overall he tends to play it close to the vest. He went all out last Saturday and it just did not work out. It is good to see rationale fans from other SEC schools finally giving Miles some credit. He is the only coach that looks Saban in the eyes and doesn't nutt up. Alabama has the best talent in the country and that is because Saban is a guy that not only can win most of the in-state battles in Alabama, which has excellent HS football, but he is the kind of coach that can go next door into GA and FL both talent rich and recruit there. Same thing here when he was at LSU with LA, excellent in-state talent with no BCS competition and Texas next door.

However, LSU's talent level is right with them and for the record, as of now, LSU is the only team that I can see next year challenging Alabama again. That is a credit to Miles. In 2010, LSU flat beat Bama, Cam Newton defeated Bama and ole Spurrier put together a great plan to defeat them. In 2011, LSU beat them and last week, I thought we were the better team but the scoreboard ultimately counts and Bama got the W. Bama had 4 1st rounders after the 2010 season, 4 last year and I have seen some projections that they may have 4 again. So while Saban is an excellent coach, 90% of college football games are usually decided by which team has the most NFL talent. I think Bama has had 4 #1 recruiting classes out of the last 5. So it is talent. During Miles tenure here at LSU, 4 schools have consistently recruited in the top 8 nationally, Bama, UF, UGA and LSU [4th best rankings according to rivals, but top 8 overall average for Miles classes] and Miles is 11-10 vs. programs with equal talent.  That means Miles is a very good coach, although I think Saban is the top guy now and he is a better college coach now than he was at LSU as while he made some bad GM decisions, he did go 15-17 as a HC in the NFL which has the top coaches in the profession.

2nd, another poster talked about the scheduling and I don't want to sound like sour grapes. LSU has the toughest road to Atlanta every year. UF has dominated Tennessee and UGA the last 25 years, and in particular during the SEC Championship game era. We have to play UF every year, Bama plays TENN and Auburn plays UGA. From FLorida's perspective, they play UGA and LSU. Next year, I think LSU has a team than can match Bama again, however, we have to play at UGA, and Florida, Bama gets UK and TENN.  Again, our road is tougher but that is the way it is.

As of now, LSU to me seems to be the only team that can match Bama consistently with a phyical level of play. Florida under Muschamp seems to moving towards that. UGA has the talent [i.e. they could have 3 1st rounders this year off their defense], but they are up and down and don't consistently bring the wood each week, maybe this year they will raise their level of play and give Bama a run in the SEC title game.

Frankly, as an LSU fan, TENN needs to get better but I just don't see it unless they get a coach that can nationally recruit. With Saban at Bama, Richt at UGA, Muschamp at UF and Jimbo at FSU, TENN, who relies on national recruiting is not going to go into those states and pull Rivals top 250 type players consistently and I don't think Chizek can do it either, his HC resume with his 2 years at Iowa State, compared to what other coaches did there and his record at Auburn, absent Cam Newton, is bad which only further helps Bama.

Regards, and good to see some opposing fans giving Miles some respect. I am not in too moral victories but I like the fight this team had last week.
