Egg Bowl Preview

STARKVILLE, Miss.,- Bitter rivals Mississippi State and Ole Miss will meet for the 106th time on the gridiron for the annual renewing of the Egg Bowl at 11:21 a.m. at Davis Wade Stadium.

The Bulldogs hope the trend remains intact as the home team has come out on top in each of the last five meetings and nine of the last 10. MSU took the last meeting in Starkville with 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter for the 17-14 victory.

The Rebels hold the series advantage 60-39-6 and also lead in games held at Scott Field 20-11-3. The series is tied 9-9 since the series returned to campus sites in 1991. The last two Egg Bowl games have also resulted in the resignation of the losing coach the following day.

Ole Miss has had the Golden Egg Trophy housed in Oxford for a year after their 45-0 shutout over the Bulldogs last season. The Rebels jumped out to an early 24-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back en route to 461 yards and holding State to only 37 for the day and sacking the quarterback 11 times.
