Kentucky Preview

Mississippi State travels to the Bluegrass State looking for their third consecutive road win this season. The Bulldogs are 2-1 away from Starkville winning at Vanderbilt and Middle Tennessee.

MSU found success on their last trip to Kentucky winning 31-14 in a pivotal game during the 2007 catapulting the Bulldogs into the Liberty Bowl.

However it was the Wildcats who won last year's contest 14-13 as departed State kicker Adam Carlson had an extra point blocked in the fourth quarter and also clanked a 27-yard field goal off the left upright.

The Bulldogs outgained Kentucky 304-274 last season. Tyson Lee completed 26-of-42 passing for 261 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Anthony Dixon ran for 48 yards on 15 carries while Arnil Stallworth led Mississippi State in receiving with eight catches for 71 yards and a touchdown.

The Bulldogs are 3-5 on the year and 1-3 in the Southeastern Conference. MSU is coming off a tight 29-19 defeat at the hands of top-ranked Florida. The Bulldogs amassed 237 yards last week with Lee completing 15-of-23 passing for 145 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions. Dixon rushed for 53 yards on 15 carries against the Gators.

State is averaging 371.1 yards and 26.4 points per game this season. The Bulldogs ground game accounts for nearly 64-percent of the plays averaging 203.1 yards a contest rushing, good enough for 18th nationally and fourth in the SEC. They also put up 168 yards through the air.
