Johnson entertains future coaches
Mississippi State football commitment Malcolm Johnson is currently having a successful senior basketball season.
Two special guests were in attendance Saturday night at Northridge (Ala.) High School when Dan Mullen and Mark Hudspeth stopped by to watch him play.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder put on a show for his future coaches scoring a team-high 10 points in a 53-44 win over cross-town rival Central.
"Coach Mullen and Coach Hud came to the game (Saturday) night actually," Johnson said. "Everybody was basically star-struck. They were sitting around my parents and we were playing Central so it was an in-town rivalry and it was pretty packed."
Johnson has met with Bulldog coaches several times over the past few weeks solidifying his commitment even more.
"I talked to them (Saturday) night and Coach Hud has came to the house a couple of times," Johnson said. "(Saturday) was the first time Coach Mullen has came down. Coach Hud has been coming by the school and surprising me and before Coach (Carl) Torbush left, he was coming by the school to see me. I've been staying active with them to make sure I'm in good terms."
This past season, Johnson made 37 catches for 681 yards and eight touchdowns. He also ran 16 times out of the wildcat formation for 88 yards and four more scores leading Northridge to a 5-5 record.
