Holmes recaps his commitment
Christian Holmes became Mississippi State's latest commitment Saturday when he gave the Bulldogs his pledge.
The 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebacker from Puckett, Miss., received his first scholarship offer from MSU on Tuesday and wasted little time taking them up on it while on his official visit.
"I just felt at home," Holmes said. "They made me feel like I was a part of the family when I showed up. It's just a big Puckett."
Holmes told State head coach Dan Mullen of his commitment in private Saturday afternoon but made it public to the team while at dinner a few hours later.
"I went to Coach Mullen and asked if I could talk to him," Holmes said. "We walked over to the indoor facility and he asked me if I was in or out? I told him that I was in and was ready to be a Dawg. He told me to let everybody know at dinner. I didn't tell anybody but he was standing up there talking at dinner and pointed at me and said 'Christian has something he wanted to say'. I just told everybody that I committed today and I'm going to be a Bulldog. Everybody just gave me a round of applause. That made me feel great."
Holmes was hosted this weekend by Jamie Jones, who ironically Holmes will be competing against for playing time beginning in August.
