Knox has the Bulldogs at the top
Mississippi State did not sign a tight end in the 2010 class and head coach Dan Mullen stated that position would be a priority for 2011.
The Bulldogs are sitting strong with likely the state's top tight end target in West Lauderdale's Daniel Knox. The 6-foot-5, 248-pounder has already landed an MSU offer and has them as the team to beat.
"State is the only school that's offered me and right now they are at the top of my list," Knox said. "I've been talking to my dad and I'm not going to commit right away. I'm going to wait a little while but they are still at the top of my list. I like all of their coaches and everything in Starkville. I like Mississippi State."
But the Bulldogs are not the only school showing interest from the Southeastern Conference. Ole Miss, Alabama and Arkansas are all also pursuing him as well.
The Collinsville, Miss., native is relieved to have his initial offer but understands that there will be an added pressure that comes along with it.
"It takes some stress off knowing that you will have somewhere to go," Knox said. "But at the same time, in a way it puts some more stress on you because you are going to have to work that much harder because of the expectations. I have to have a much better senior year than a junior year so I can still get better."
Both of Knox's parents attended Mississippi State which is also where they met for the first time.
