Deville Smith commits to MSU

Mississippi State picked up their first commitment of the coveted recruiting class out of the Magnolia State when Callaway four-star point guard Deville Smith announced his decision late Friday night.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder averaged 23.1 points, 3.9 steals and 3.6 assists per game. He earned first team, All-State honors as well as a preseason Dandy Dozen selection by The Clarion Ledger.

"I just committed to Mississippi State," Smith wrote in a text to BulldogBlitz.com at 10:51 p.m. Friday night.

Smith chose the Bulldogs over offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Memphis, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, USC and Wake Forest.
