Offensive Lineman Carter Wall Talks SMU
For Richmond Travis (TX) offensive lineman Carter Wall the recruiting process has been steadily heating up over the past couple of months. Now with his team participating in spring drills, the attention given to this 6-foot-5, 263-pounder is intensifying.
"Right now I have offers from the University of Houston, Memphis, SMU, Baylor and New Mexico," said Wall. "Missouri came to practice today and my coach talked to them. They told him they were going to offer me. I have not gotten the letter yet so I don't know if it is for sure yet though."
Wall has not been able to take many visits so far in his recruiting process but luckily for Mustang fans, the Hilltop is one of the locations he has been able to visit. And the junior was impressed with what he saw.
"So far I have gone to Kansas, Baylor, Houston and SMU. I liked SMU a lot. The campus is beautiful and the education is second to none."
While Wall would like to take more visits this summer, he is uncertain how many or where he will go.
"I am working right now on trying to set up a visit to New Mexico. Other than that nothing else is really set up. I don't have any official plans yet to go to any camps."
Offensive line coach Adrian Klemm is the head recruiter on Wall for the Mustangs and he seems to of been able to build a good relationship with Wall so far.
"I talk to coach Klemm probably once every two or three weeks. Coach Klemm is a really nice guy. He is probably my favorite coach out of everyone recruiting me, he is just very real. I probably talk to him the most out of any other coaches. It's between him and the Baylor coach for who I talk to the most."
One school that the Mustangs will be competing with to land this talented offensive lineman is their cross town rivals, TCU.
"I have been in contact with TCU probably the past two or three months. That is when they started recruiting me. They came to my practice the other week but I had a bum ankle and couldn't practice and they want to see me perform in front of them before they offer me."
Right now, Wall has some high expectations for himself as far as where he would like to end up. He says that he has a top three of Missouri, TCU and Texas A&M. The problem is that he has yet to be offered by any of those schools officially. Because of that, SMU has been able to gain ground on landing this top prospect.
"Out of the schools that have offered me, SMU is number one. I really like the coaching staff and what they do on offense. I like everything about SMU. They have a real laid back atmosphere on the team and the education is as good as it gets."
It seems that other schools may be running short of time now too as Wall would like to be able to commit to a school by the time next fall rolls around.
"I would love to be able to commit at the end of the spring ball. Just go into my senior season knowing where I am going to go. That way I can focus on my team and trying to win during my senior season. I don't want to be distracted by wondering where I am going to go to college."
