EAST LANSING - It is no secret that Michigan State needs to improve their defense if they intend to compete for Big Ten Championships.

Fourteen days into camp, SpartanMag checked in with defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi to see what he thinks about the progress of the defense thus far.

Among the concerns:

  • Will the secondary be able to make the plays necessary to increase takeaways in the 2010 season?
  • Will the Spartans be able to create an effective pass rush?
  • And what sort of impact will players like Chris D. Rucker (who has made the switch from wide receiver to defensive back) and Rashad White (who's long journey to East Lansing may end in an immediate impact) have?
