Tulsa Team Report
Tulsa fans have become accustomed to watching their team pile up more than 500 yards.
But in the season opener, the Golden Hurricane defense allowed that many, part of which led to allowing four fourth-quarter touchdowns and, eventually, a heartbreaking, last-play loss at East Carolina.
This past weekend, Tulsa's questioned defense got back on track. Its performance allowed the Golden Hurricane to bounce back and run away from Bowling Green, 33-20, in its home opener in front of 19,565.
Bowling Green managed only six points in the second half and ended the game with 303 yards on offense. Only 41 of those came in the running game. The week prior, Tulsa allowed 155 yards rushing to East Carolina.
"It was a tough loss last week," said Tulsa linebacker Shawn Jackson. "But we bounced back, and we came out with a win (Saturday). A big emphasis this week in practice was to just stay focused on what you're supposed to do, so that's what we did."
