Murray has become top gun for UGA
Revisionists will tell you Florida didn't sweat it when Tampa (Fla.) Plant quarterback Aaron Murray picked Georgia over the Gators in April of 2008.
But the reality is, Florida wanted him badly.
Not long before he committed to the Bulldogs, Murray visited Gainesville for the Gators' spring game. At Florida Field, Murray, his parents and Plant coach Robert Weiner were led to a suite, where the uniforms of Steve Spurrier, Danny Wuerffel and Tim Tebow -- the school's three Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks --- were hanging next to a No. 11 Florida jersey with Murray's name on it.
"It was so close [between the schools]," Murray told the Tampa Tribune the day of his announcement. "This was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I just felt it at Georgia."
