Powered Up: Playing the blame game
On Saturday night, Blaine Gabbert completed just 12 of his 30 passes for 95 yards in a 24-17 loss to Texas Tech that left Tiger fans stunned. Over the next 36 hours, blame was heaped upon a Missouri offense that failed to score in the final 35 minutes of the game. A lion's share of that blame fell upon the shoulders of Gabbert.
On Monday, the junior quarterback was asked about the criticism and the thought from some that he should have been benched in Lubbock.
"I think you guys were the ones that wanted me pulled," Gabbert said. "Everybody on my team wanted me out there. I wanted to be out there. Your guys' opinions on who should get yanked, what should be called, really does not matter to us at all."
And that statement has drawn more ire from a segment of Missouri fans.
But let's ask this: What SHOULD he have said? After a loss to a .500 team in which the Tigers blew a two-touchdown lead, exactly what comment would pacify the anger?
