Bulldogs claim season opening win

The Bulldogs were sluggish early on and went into halftime tied with Tennessee State but Ravern Johnson's 25 second half points sparked his team to a 75-65 victory.

"Obviously we are glad to get a 'W', that's number one," said MSU head coach Rick Stansbury. "We know we've got a lot of areas to get better in at both ends. Johnson became the 32nd player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau for his career sinking a free throw with 18-seconds remaining to cap off his night. The senior wing hit 7-of-17 on the night including 5-of-9 behind the arc. He also sank 13-of-14 from the charity stripe.
