Fulse plans official to Tech
Fort Meade (Fla.) tight end Brandon Fulse will be in West Texas in two weeks on an unofficial visit to the program. Rivals' 10th ranked tight end will be making his first visit to Lubbock, and is looking to learn more about a program that he's been building a relationship with since the spring.
"I know they've got a new staff out there and are trying to do some things different in the future. I've been talking with Coach Chad Scott, and he's let me know that they haven't had a tight end out there in like ten years," Fulse said. "I like Coach Scott a lot, we've got a good relationship. They've been on me since last spring, so we've had time to get to know each other pretty well over the past few months."
The competition for Fulse's services features some of the top programs from around the country. He lists Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, and Oregon as some of the other schools he's been hearing from recently. With a visit to Auburn already under his belt, and a visit to Tennessee upcoming, the 6-foot-4, 247-pounder is getting down to the thick of things within his recruitment.
"I'm not sure when I'm going to make a decision, but it's getting close to that time," he said. "I haven't been focusing on my recruitment all that much, but it's time for that now. I would say that I'll make a decision whenever I feel like I'm ready. It could be tomorrow, or it could be in February. If I see something I like and a situation that I'm comfortable in, I won't be scared to pull the trigger."
Fulse is looking for a program with a "family atmosphere." He also mentions playing early as something that would be attractive to him in a potential destination.
"Playing out-of-state is no problem with me. I just want to go where I'm going to have the best chance to succeed on and off the field," he said. "I want to be a part of a program where everyone is comfortable with each other and where everyone has each other's backs."
"I'd love to play early just like everybody else, and if that opportunity is found somewhere then that would definitely be a positive for them. I don't know if I'll have that chance anywhere, but if I did it would get my attention for sure. It's something else I keep in mind, for sure."
Aside from Texas Tech, Fulse currently holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami (FL), Michigan, Oregon, Stanford, Tennessee, and West Virginia, amongst others.
