Josh Taylor steps up

MORGANTOWN--Bill Stewart swept into the winner's interview room under Milan Puskar Stadium Saturday with a dark blue Big East championship T-shirt he draped across an impromptu podium. He said he might wrap himself in it for tonight's TV brawl between Connecticut and USF.

The Mountaineers, who finished their regular season 9-3 overall and 5-2 in the Big East in Stewart's third full season, will have to wait to see if the USF Bulls hold serve at home and beat Connecticut's Huskies. Were that to happen, WVU may have a shot at either the Fiesta or Orange bowls. Both post-season BCS events had scouts here.

On the other hand, Pitt (5-2) and UConn have a hand in the Big East title. The Huskies whipped the Panthers and Mountaineers this year.
