The Oregon State defense came out ready to play on Saturday against the rival Ducks. Coordinator Mark Banker and assistant coaches Joe Seumalo, Greg Newhouse and Keith Heyward developed a stellar game plan and the defense performed it well in the loss. Wearing the trowback Giant Killer uniforms, the Beaver defense gave up 282 yards rushing (taking out the 64 yard fake punt that counted against special teams) and 427 total offensive yards against a team who has averaged 537 total yards a game. The Beavers also held the Ducks to 37 points, well below their average of 49.

Starting up front, the defensive line MVP was Kevin Frahm who had seven tackles on the day. Dominic Glover added five tackles against his former team while Stephen Paea, Brennan Olander and Andrew Seumalo added six.
