One of the biggest mysteries to Ohio State recruiting fans has been the lack of an offer to Cleveland Heights (Ohio) offensive tackle Kyle Dodson. That mystery can now be put to rest as the Buckeyes extended a verbal offer to the 6-foot-6, 310-pound prospect on Sunday night. The offer was Dodson's 27th to date.

"I was pretty excited," said Dodson of receiving the offer. "Me and coach (Jeff) Rotsky, we were at his house, and we were on a conference call with the staff. It was coach (Luke) Fickell, coach (Taver) Johnson, and coach (Jim Bollman). We were just on speaker phone like a conference or whatever."

Despite being the last to offer, the Buckeyes still sit in good position with one of the top offensive tackles in the nation.

"They're pretty high on my list," Dodson said. "It's a pretty hard decision right now. There's a couple of (schools) standing out but I don't want to release their names yet because I want to talk to the coaches of the schools that didn't make it first."

Dodson says a decision could come any day now.

"I'm pretty much deciding either today or tomorrow, sometime in the next couple of days," he said. "Me and my coach were just talking and I was over at his house 'til like twelve o'clock and we watched a game (film) or two and we just talked extensively about (making a decision) and I want make a decision very soon."

Dodson claims the recent coaching change was worry some at first but overall shouldn't hurt Ohio State's chances too much.

"I was very shocked," Dodson said. "It was one of those things that you would never expect to happen. I called coach (Jim) Tressel just to see if he was OK, and I was just concerned and wanted to give him some support. He's doing great, he handled the situation very well and to me, it made him a great coach. The players were wrong for throwing him over the boat like that but he did everything he could to protect his players and that's how I see it."

"It kind of effected me a little bit (on his view of Ohio State), but not really," he said. "I was a little worried about the stability of the team because I like the coaching staff they have there."

Once Dodson finalizes his college choice, he can get back to focusing on his senior season.

"Recently, I've just been lifting and working out like every single day," Dodson said. "Our team is going to a couple of camps coming up, too."
