Familiar foe for Maye
This year might be Brandon Maye's first in the Southeastern Conference but Saturday will not be his first time facing off against Kentucky.
The Bulldogs senior linebacker played against Kentucky in the 2009 Music City Bowl as a redshirt freshman but was limited to just three snaps due to injury.
Having spent a month already studying the Wildcats offense previously has given Maye a leg up this week.
"It looks like they have the same offensive coordinator," Maye said. "They are a team that runs the I-formation and their fullback will get after you. They are going to run the ball at you and it's going to be a physical game. It's pretty much the same team that I saw three years ago.
"They are very well-coached. They fit up on the right guys and don't make too many mistakes. Morgan Newton makes things happen with his feet. He likes to get out of the pocket and run around. They do a lot of stuff to keep you off balance. Pretty much everything is on us. We've got to go out and take care of our business."
Maye made a much publicized transfer following the 2010 season after graduating in December with a degree in sociology. He enrolled in Mississippi State's sports administration graduate school program and was eligible to play immediately.
