The recruiting process is full of tough decisions, and Memphis East (Tenn.) athlete Will Redmond knows that dilemma often comes with the territory.
Redmond committed to Mississippi State early in the process, but has climbed the lists of some big time programs such as Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Georgia in recent weeks.
The four star athlete decided to take an official visit to the Athens this weekend, and he gave the visit high marks.
"I would rate it a 10," he said. "I had a great time with the coaches and the players. It was a real good time. I spent time the team and got to know a lot of the coaches. I had meetings with Coach (Scott) Lakatos and Coach (Mark) Richt, and those were nice too."
Redmond, who played all over the field in his high school career, is being recruiting primarily as a defensive back, but the coaches also let him know their intentions to use him in other ways.
"They like me on defense at defensive back as my main position," said Redmond. "They also want me as a return man and to play a little offense too. On defense they want me to be versatile and play some safety and cornerback."
The Tennessee native also saw some things that he liked with the Bulldog defense.
"I like how they want you to get in there and play press coverage," he said. "When you play zone, it's not really about how you cover but they want you to get there and press they guy and cover him. I like that."
One interesting fact about Redmond that has come to light lately is that he grew up a Georgia fan.
"I've liked Georgia a long time. I started liking them because of the color and all, and then I saw the kind of players that were playing there," he said. "Some of the best players in the NFL played for Georgia, so I have always been a fan."
Although the recruiting process is starting to get a little stressful for Redmond, he is making sure not to rush into any decisions.
"I'm still committed to Mississippi State, but Georgia is in it," said Redmond. "They have been in it since they offered. I'm going to take some more visits and decide after that. I only have the Mississippi State (Jan. 13) visit planned. I will take more visits, but I don't have them planned yet. Then I will decide."
