Dixon to make one more visit

STRONG, Ark. -- The top committed offensive player thus far for the Class of 2012 finally made his official visit to the Louisiana Tech campus this past weekend.

However, should Tech fans be worried that he will be making an official visit to Gus Malzahn and Arkansas State this month as well?

Kenneth Dixon is a three-star prospect according to the latest Rivals.com ranking. The eighth-best overall player in the State of Arkansas according to those same rankings, Dixon committed to the Bulldogs back on October 16th of this past year and finally made his much anticipated visit to Ruston over this past weekend.

"I really had a good time man," Dixon said. "It was much more fun than I was expecting to be honest with you. I am firm in my commitment to Louisiana Tech and Coach Dykes and stuff especially since he (Dykes) decided to stay put at Tech. He and I got the chance to talk for quite a while once I got on campus and we really got to know each other a whole lot better. Coach Dykes is a really good guy and I enjoyed our conversations. We talked a lot about what I am going to be able to do once I arrive in June and just how they really want me to have the chance and they are going to give me every opportunity to play immediately.

"That was also the case when I was talking with (Offensive Coordinator) Tony Franklin. He told me to be ready that minute I walk on campus because they really think that I can fit in immediately and compete for that starting spot. That was great news to hear. The chance for early playing time was probably the biggest reason that I chose to commit to Louisiana Tech."

The 5-11, 210-pound running back is coming off of a phenomenal senior season that saw him rush for a state single-season record of 3,153 yards and 39 touchdowns.

"One of the other highlights of my visit may have seemed boring to fans but the opportunity to just hang out with the players, my future teammates, was very important," Dixon said. "These guys are basically going to be your family for the next 4-5 years so I know in my case I wanted to make absolutely sure that we were able to be cool hanging around together and we were. I got along great with all the players and other recruits that were there and we didn't go party or anything like that. We just hung out and got to know each other better. I can't tell you how important that was. I really do feel like I fit in here in Ruston and at Louisiana Tech."

However, probably the biggest shocker that came out of Dixon's mouth was the fact that he will be making another official visit very soon to a school not named Louisiana Tech.

"I'm visiting Arkansas State this weekend," Dixon said. "I decided to do that about two weeks ago. Tech fans shouldn't be worried. I'm firm in my commitment to Louisiana Tech. I am going to basically make sure I'm right about my commitment to Louisiana Tech. I'm just going up there to say I went I guess you could say."

Already academically qualified, Tech fans will have to see if Dixon is just going to be going. Only time will tell.
