Ohio State is set to host a highly touted group of visitors on official visits this weekend, a group that includes Windsor (Colo.) offensive lineman Joey O'Connor. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound prospect confirmed on Wednesday evening that everything is set for him to make his trip to Columbus.

"We're set to leave Friday at 10:30 AM," said O'Connor. "I'm just looking forward to meeting the coaching staff and getting on campus and seeing what it's like. I talked to coach (Ed) Warinner, the new offensive line coach, today (Wednesday) for the first time and he's a great guy and I'm looking forward to building that relationship as much as possible while I'm there."

O'Connor said the conversation with Warinner was a positive one as the two have quickly started to build a relationship ever since O'Connor decommitted from Penn State.

"It was fun," he said. "Notre Dame was recruiting me when I decommitted and (Warinner) was recruiting me. He said he loved the way I play and now that he's at Ohio State he still loves the way I play and he said that he's excited to get a second chance to recruit me."

There has been a lot of speculation about where Ohio State projects O'Connor and he cleared that stuff up, once and for all.

"They're recruiting me as inside guy, guard, maybe center," he said.

O'Connor participated in the Under Armour All-American Game last week and said that he enjoyed his experience in Florida.

"It was great," O'Connor said. "It was a fun time. It was tough but it was a lot of fun and I got to be around some great guys and play against some of the best players in the country."

With the all-star game behind him, O'Connor will spend the next few weeks completely focused on recruiting as National Signing Day quickly approaches.

"I do have a visit setup to Cal on the 28th of January," he said. "After this weekend, I have next weekend open and I might take a visit somewhere else but I don't know yet. I'm just trying to weigh it out and take my time and figure out what's best for me."

As for where O'Connor could take that potential visit next week, it's another Big Ten school that is the most likely destination.

"Right now it's looking like probably Iowa," he said.

O'Connor is rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com.
