Gibson signs with Deacs

Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central outside linebacker Dominique Gibson signed with Wake Forest at 10:07 AM today, Feb. 1.

Rivals.com rates the 5-foot-10, 190-pound Gibson as a three-star recruit, the nation's No. 42 outside linebacker and the No. 68 overall prospect in Florida.

He committed to Wake Forest Oct. 21. Ray McCartney and recruited Gibson for the Demon Deacons. Gibson will be joining his cousin Zachary Allen, who is an outside linebacker for the Deacs.

"Me and him [McCartney] are pretty close," Gibson said in a prior interview with Deacons Illustrated. "We talk about a lot of things. I was mainly with Ziggy [Allen], [Kevin] Sousa from Orlando, and I hung out with Bud [Merrill Noel] and A.J. [Marshall] I really like them. They made me feel at home. It was pretty good. I enjoyed myself a lot."

Though listed as an outside linebacker
Gibson will likely safety, but said he was also given the option to play running back.
Gibson was a defensive stalwart for Glades Central, helping to lead it to a third round appearance in the state playoffs and a 12-1 record.
