Change in defense already benefiting Francis

For senior Josh Francis, the 2011 season was supposed to be a breakthrough year. The linebacker had just transferred to West Virginia following a junior college stint at Lackawanna College in Pennsylvania and many reporters pegged him to be a contender for hefty playing time in the upcoming year.

Francis; however, struggled at times adjusting to the complex 3-3-5 defensive scheme of Jeff Casteel and finished the season with a lackluster nine total tackles. But with a new defensive staff and familiar 3-4 scheme, 2012 might just be the year Francis lives up to the hype as the senior competes for the starting job at BUCK linebacker.
